Born in Scotland, Honeyman emigrated to NS in 1848. Clergyman turned geologist, commissioned by the NS government to prepare natural history displays for international exhibitions in the US and Europe, as well as produce an overview of NS geology. Founder of the Provincial Museum of Nova Scotia, its curator until his death. Numerous honours, including being one of the first fellows of the Royal Society of Canada.
